Hi,
I'm interested in applying to a pre-med internship. The only problem is that I'm not able to find any that will accept non-university students even though I'm in graduate school. Does anyone know a program that will accept a more "non-traditional" student? Thanks!

Child Family Health International accepts students and non-students alike as long as you are 21 or over at the time of your program (some exceptions made for interns 20 years of age). Programs take place every month of the year for 4-12 weeks in Bolivia, Ecuador, Mexico, South Africa, and India with all local physicians. Email students@cfhi.org if you have any questions.

Those are the ones with direct contact with the MDs/DOs/PAs/ and NPs. If they don't have any positions, either email them once every month, or two weeks. Also, volunteering for a Public Hospital is a great opportunity to get in.
Try a practice in the inner city area. Spend a day, and walk from practice to practice, with your resume/Curriculum Vitae. Dress professionally. Ask to speak to the chief of practice. If they are busy-WAIT. YOU sit the heck down and WAIT! You wait until the physician can see you.
Be honest with them. Look them in the eye. They will not eat your soul, I promise.
Be willing to do scut work (Cleaning, dealing with CMAs, unbearable patients. Also, understand that there are protocols that you must follow (HIPPA, etc)
These internships will not be handed to you, since you are a grad student, so using non-traditional methods can come handy. NOTHING COMES EASY. NO PAIN NO GAIN.
It is also a great alternative instead of spending a couple of thousand dollars for a international program.
