About

PremedNetwork.com is a community for professional networking, collaborating, and learning for premed students. Think of it as a business network for premed students.

Members are from Universities all over the country and it is highly likely that there are several people on the site who you already know.

  • Connect with premed students from your University
  • Connect with premed students from other Universities
  • Share and discuss premed issues with students from all over the country

  • Form an online group for anything related to premed

  • Establish and manage your professional identity

Connections and relationships matter for succeeding. Some of the relationships you develop could last a lifetime.

You can invite people to PremedNetwork.com by simply clicking the “Invite” tab at the top.

My Page

You can upload a profile picture (it makes the community more personal). You can also customize your page. Just click on “My Page” on the left. A good example is the page of Tenaya West (Featured Member).

You can post a status update just like Facebook. In addition, you can post directly to Facebook or Twitter from PremedNetwork.com. The links to do so are on the left of the page. Integrating is very easy and just takes a couple of minutes.

If you click the “Share” link on the left you can share the page with MySpace, StumbleUpon, or Digg.

If you click on “Add Apps”, you can add applications to your page. There are over 250 free apps to choose from. It only takes a couple of minutes to add an app. There are apps for collaboration, communication, games, music, etc.

Just like Facebook, you can add friends simply by clicking on “Add as Friend” (located on the person’s profile page). If approved, you’ll see them in the “My Friends” section of your page.

You can add third-party widgets simply by clicking on “third-party widgets” in the middle of your page (right under “Text Box”).

You can add videos from YouTube or other providers. Just click on “Add Videos” under “My Videos”.

You can send and receive messages through your mailbox (located on the upper right side of your page).

You can also add an RSS feed. Just click on “Add RSS” on the left of the page.

Groups

You can add a group. Simply go to the “Groups” tab at the top of the page, then click “Add a Group” (located at the top right of the page). It only takes a couple of minutes. I hope every member joins a group for their University and also invites their classmates to join.

You can also join existing groups (there are groups for Universities throughout the US including Stanford, Harvard, and others). I encourage you to join groups and actively participate in them.

You can also post comments/questions to the group. A great example is the feedback Jonathan Chen (Featured Member) gave to some of the questions in the MCAT group.

Finally, you can also share resources with the group. A great example is in the Internship group. Han Chung (Featured Member) inquired about summer internship opportunities and Akanksha Rajeurs (Featured Member) replied with internship opportunities she knew about.

Forum

The forum is full of information on internships, research positions, volunteering opportunities, summer experiences, etc. Feel free to post any opportunities that you might be aware of. A great example would be the opportunities posted by Dr. Keith Bradley (Featured Member).

Most importantly: unleash the creativity within yourselves. Create, innovate and design!

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me. Here’s to an exciting future!!!
